A Month in St. Augustine: History, Healing & Holiday Magic šŸŒ“šŸ°āœØ

After Tennessee, we made a quick but fun overnight stop in Georgia at the famous Peanut Monument, stocking up on fresh sausage and meat sticks at a nearby country store—because road snacks are essential. Then, it was time for something we’d been looking forward to since our first year on the road: a full month in St. Augustine, Florida.

Exploring the Nation’s Oldest City šŸ°šŸš‹

We kicked off our stay with a hop-on-hop-off trolley tour, the perfect way to get an overview of this historic town’s charm. From centuries-old streets to coastal views, St. Augustine did not disappoint.

  • Wine stop? Of course! Another round of Muscadine wine tasting—Florida’s specialty šŸ·.
  • New favorite donut alert! šŸ© Parlor Doughnuts stole our hearts (and taste buds).
  • Brewery visit with a twist—our first-ever brewery cat sighting, chilling right on the bar.

And because no trip is complete without conquering some fears, we climbed St. Augustine Lighthouse—so many steps, but totally worth the view.

Historic Forts & Girls’ Weekend Fun šŸ‘Æā€ā™€ļøšŸŒŠ

Our love for exploring old forts led us to Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, a stunning, well-preserved fortress right on the water. The history, the cannons, the views—amazing.

One of the biggest highlights? A surprise visit from two incredible friends, Amy & Erin. A much-needed girls’ weekend filled with beach time, wine, incredible food, and all the laughs. It was just what the doctor ordered for my recovery.

Mayo Clinic Check-In & A Thanksgiving to Remember 🦃✨

Another big blessing—I was able to do my six-week follow-up at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville instead of flying back to Minnesota. So grateful for this option and the continued care.

And what better way to wrap up November than Thanksgiving week with friends? Our Canadian travel buddies, Mel & Jeff, joined us, making the holiday extra special.

  • Sunset cruise + “Nights of Lights” = pure magic. St. Augustine glows this time of year! šŸŒ…šŸŽ„āœØ
  • Nick’s smoked turkey stole the show—because, let’s be real, smoked meats are his superpower.

Final Thoughts: St. Augustine Stole Our Hearts ā¤ļø

From historic streets to breathtaking beaches, this city had it all. The month flew by, but we already know we’ll be back.
