So we learned one should never leave Florida on April 1st – when all the rest of the snowbirds flock back north. It was gridlock heading north and our 4 hour trip took us nearly 7 hours. But after a long travel day and overnight stop at the Gainesville/Starke KOA we made it to our home in South Carolina. A month in Hardeeville really gave us a taste for coastal living. While we were not on the coast while staying at Lake Jasper RV Park, it was a great jumping off spot to hit up Savanna, Hilton Head, Tybee Island and Beaufort. The park backed up to a county park which provided us daily access to walking trails and the lake. Leonidas really enjoyed the daily action. As usual we enjoyed many a beer and local foods, but our favorite adventure was certainly Hunting State Park and the town of Beaufort. We took a stellar golf cart tour through the historic homes of town and got to see the many famous spots from the movie Forest Gump. The beauty of the low lands, islands and beach was amazing. It is hard to explain and hard to truly capture in pictures, but its a kind of vibe that we could get used to. We survived tornadoes, alligators and snakes, so all in all it was a spectacular month and a great way to kickoff the Spring.
